The ABHOW Board of Directors is composed of 15 members. The board governs the corporation by establishing policies under which corporate staff operate.
Three of the 15 directors are appointed by regions of the American Baptist Churches USA in which ABHOW communities are located. The remaining 11 directors are elected at-large. All board members are responsible citizens of the community who affirm the Mission Statement, the ABHOW Vision Statement, the Statement of Values and Ethics, and the Statement of Diversity of the corporation. They must possess a sincere interest in providing care for the physical, mental, and spiritual needs of older adults. All elected board members are volunteers. The 2011 Board of Directors:
