
Phyllis J. Stuewig
Mrs. Phyllis J. Stuewig is a retired geriatric Nurse Practitioner, having served more than 40 years in the field serving the elderly. She began her career as a floor and supervising nurse in acute hospitals and then became a Director of Nursing Services at a Palo Alto, California convalescent hospital. Mrs. Stuewig also provided home health care for the elderly while living in Phoenix, Arizona. She was a Nurse Practitioner for Kaiser Permanente in San Jose, California, for a continuing care retirement community in Portola Valley, California, for Cigna Health Care in Sun City, Arizona, and Clear Choice Health Care in Bend, Oregon.
Mrs. Stuewig was the corporate Director of Health Services for ABHOW for many years where she developed new programs and standards in the areas of long term care, Alzheimer’s care, assisted living, home health and hospice care for the organization. She has served on numerous boards in the geriatric field and participates in church and other volunteer efforts in the community.
Mrs. Stuewig earned her Registered Nurse degree from Peninsula General Hospital in Salisbury, Maryland and majored in Psychology at Eastern Nazarene College in Quincy, Massachusetts. Her Nurse Practitioner education was received from the University of California, San Francisco. (Board Member since 2007)
