ABHOW Affordable Housing’s primary objective is to exceed the residential living requirements of our low-income elderly residents. Many seniors live on fixed incomes and much of that goes to rent. This results in ever-dwindling resources left for food, clothing and medicine. We work to see that our residents are not faced with such a predicament by operating 18 communities that provide over 1,400 government subsidized apartments for low-income seniors.

These beautiful, well-maintained, expertly staffed and professionally managed communities provide safe and secure housing for more than 1,000 individuals who, by reason of their financial circumstances, may have otherwise had to settle for substandard housing in their golden years.

Residents must be at least 62 years old. They discover much to do in ABHOW communities. Many sites provide delicious, nutritious meals. Activities include out-of-town excursions, bingo, movies, trips to the theater (and the occasional casino), computer training workshops, and art classes. Other sites have private mini buses for regularly scheduled visits to doctors, dentists and pharmacies.

ABHOW also employs service coordinators who work to ensure that residents are aware of the many services made available to them by their respective cities and counties. These include care and chore provider assistance, "Meals on Wheels" program services, and financial counseling.
