
Ms. Claassen joined ABHOW in March of 2000 as senior vice president/CFO.
Previously, she served for several years on ABHOW’s board of directors or various committees. She was introduced to the organization through her father, Richard W. Scott, who served on various boards and committees for local communities, ABHOW corporate, and the American Baptist Homes Foundation of the West over a period of 30 years. Prior to joining ABHOW, Ms. Claassen was with KPMG LLP for 22 years. After receiving her MBA in 1978, she joined the audit department of KPMG. In 1989, she was promoted to audit partner and later was the public services partner in charge for the North Pacific region. Finally, she spent several years in KPMG’s consulting division, providing information risk management consulting services to the public sector market. Throughout this time her clients included governmental and nonprofit entities as well as a variety of financial services clients, including publicly traded corporations.
Ms. Claassen received her bachelor’s degree (magna cum laude) from Linfield College in 1975 and her MBA with an emphasis in accounting from the University of California at Berkeley in 1978. Ms. Claassen is currently a trustee of Linfield College and is the moderator of Oakland First Baptist Church, a congregation with members who were actively involved in ABHOW’s development of its Grand Lake Gardens and Piedmont Gardens communities.
