John H. Cochrane III, President and CEO
As president and chief executive officer, John Cochrane is responsible for the strategic direction of the company, overseeing operations and serving as the primary liaison to the Cornerstone Affiliates Board of Directors. Cochrane served as president and CEO of be.group prior to the company’s affiliation with ABHOW. Before joining be.group, Cochrane worked for Lifespace Communities, headquartered in Des Moines, Iowa, where he served as chief operating officer overseeing 11 retirement communities in seven states. Cochrane previously worked as a practicing attorney specializing in real estate and finance, and as executive director of the $150-million retirement community Oak Crest Village in Catonsville, Maryland. He has his law degree from Northwestern University and a bachelor’s degree in political science from Northern Illinois University.
Pamela Claassen, Chief Financial Officer
As chief financial officer, Pam Claassen oversees finance and accounting, which includes accountability for the funding of new development and capital improvements in our existing properties. Additionally, Claassen is accountable for the information technology operations of our enterprise. Claassen previously served as ABHOW’s senior vice president of finance and CFO. Prior to ABHOW, Claassen was with KPMG LLP for 22 years. Throughout this time her clients included governmental and nonprofit entities as well as a variety of financial services clients, including publicly traded corporations. Claassen received her bachelor’s degree from Linfield College and her MBA with an emphasis in accounting from the University of California at Berkeley.
Dan Hutson, Chief Strategy Officer
As chief strategy officer, Dan Hutson is accountable for strategic planning, innovation, product development, marketing, corporate communications and brand management for the enterprise. He previously served as be.group’s vice president of communications and marketing. Prior to joining be.group, he served as chief communications officer for the Los Angeles County Children’s Planning Council, a commission of the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors. Hutson owned and operated a communications design firm for several years, specializing in serving corporate clients, educational institutions and nonprofit organizations, and previously worked as publications director for Occidental College, a liberal arts college in Los Angeles. Hutson has bachelor’s degrees in political science and sociology from UCLA.
Terese Juntz, Chief Administration Officer
As chief administration officer, Terese Juntz has direct oversight of human resources and culture, program management and administrative services. Juntz previously served as senior vice president of human resources. Before joining ABHOW, she served as senior vice president of human resources at SONICblue, where she helped the corporation’s industry transformation from graphic chips to consumer electronics. Prior to SONICblue, she held several human resources leadership positions in high-technology companies. She started her career in service operations, progressing through increasingly responsible positions in sales and operations, including profit and loss responsibility. Juntz holds a bachelor's degree from Oral Roberts University and her MBA from Pepperdine University. In addition, she holds certificates in human resources management (UC Santa Cruz), training and development (UC Santa Cruz), total quality management (Digital Equipment Corporation) and Certified Compensation Professional (WorldatWork).
Daniel S. Ogus, Chief Operating Officer
As chief operating officer, Dan Ogus oversees Cornerstone Affiliates’ operational areas, which includes our licensed communities and affordable housing, along with procurement and the resident experience. He previously served as executive vice president and COO of be.group, as well as serving as president of the be.group foundation. Ogus has master’s degrees in business administration from the University of Dallas and gerontology from the University of Southern California, and a bachelor’s degree in hotel and restaurant management from the University of Houston.
Louise Rankin, General Counsel
As general counsel, Louise Rankin oversees Cornerstone Affiliates’ legal operations and is also accountable for enterprise risk management, governance and advocacy. Rankin previously served as senior vice president and general counsel for ABHOW. She has more than 30 years of experience and nearly a decade specifically working with ABHOW's senior officers on bond financings. In addition, she has negotiated multistate system bond deals for a number of individual hospitals, nursing homes and continuing care retirement communities. The health care financing industry now widely accepts structures and covenants she developed. Rankin graduated with a bachelor of science in humanities from Mankato State University in Mankato, Minn., and earned her law degree from Vanderbilt University.
Jeff Glaze, President, Philanthropy
Jeff Glaze serves as president of philanthropy, the corporation's philanthropic arm, which raises funds to provide assistance to the communities owned and operated by Cornerstone Affiliates. Glaze joined ABHOW in 1997 as corporate controller and led a reorganization of ABHOW’s finance department, putting the organization on a sound financial footing. He served as chief operations manager for ABHOW's continuing care retirement communities from 2006 until 2014. Prior to joining ABHOW, Glaze was controller for Children’s Hospital in Oakland. Previously, he led business planning for the Department of Health for the British dependency Guernsey, was associate administrator of finance at Oakland-based Summit Medical Center and associate executive director of finance for two different hospitals run by Humana, Inc. Glaze brings more than 36 years of leadership in senior living and health care financial management and business planning to his role. He earned his MBA from California State East Bay and a bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of Idaho.
Ancel Romero, President, Beacon Communities, Inc.
Ancel Romero is a noted leader, speaker and trainer in the affordable housing industry. As president of Beacon Communities, he manages the operations of Cornerstone Affiliates’ affordable housing communities and has oversight and overall responsibility for affordable housing development within the organization. Before joining ABHOW in 1998, Romero was the director of property management of G&K Management Co., one of the largest for-profit housing providers in the country. He was promoted to vice president of affordable housing of ABHOW in 2001, and in 2004 assumed additional responsibilities as senior vice president. Romero earned his bachelor’s degree in economics from Letran College in Manila, Philippines. He was previously the president of the Affordable Housing Management Association of Northern California, Nevada and Hawaii. He is a nationally accredited Affordable Housing Professional (Executive Level), a certified Fair Housing Professional, a Certified Tax Credit Compliance Specialist (LIHTC C3P), and a Certified Property Manager (CPM) as designated by the Institute of Real Estate Management.
