Giving Thanks for the Gifts of Many »

12/23/2010 10:48 am CST

At rush hour on the Monday before Thanksgiving, a winter storm hit Seattle. While snow and ice made driving treacherous in and around that hilly city for three days, team members at nearby Judson Park pulled together to make sure that residents’ needs were met.

Staying Financially Strong »

9/9/2010 11:18 am CDT

As we approach the new fiscal year that begins Oct. 1, I would like to update our stakeholders on ABHOW’s financial position. Through the third quarter, the operating performance of the corporation continued to generate the margin necessary to sustain our mission.

A year ago last month, I wrote about how the dramatic decline in the economy had affected ABHOW. At that time, we were grateful to have experienced only minor impact on operations, although our reserves had dropped in value by a significant amount.

Enhancing Care ... By Design »

4/16/2010 1:00 pm CDT

A great room, a large country kitchen and an inviting dining room  stand at the heart of the home. The bedrooms open into this central  common area. The design may not sound radical, but then it is not for a  family home. It is actually a skilled nursing center. Tracking Our Charitable Activities »

2/3/2010 11:06 am CST

Many of our residents, employees and neighbors faced financial difficulties in 2009. The company helped residents who have outlived their assets remain in their homes, covered the difference between Medicaid reimbursement and the actual cost of health care services, gave scholarships to employees, and contributed meeting space and expertise to the communities in which we operate.

10/1/2009 8:30 am CDT

As our nation debates healthcare reform, ABHOW is paying close attention because the outcome will affect those we serve -- older adults and their families. Seniors use healthcare services more than any other age group, and surveys show they are particularly concerned about possible changes to the present system

Protecting Our Positive Financial Position »

4/3/2009 3:13 pm CDT

Since I last wrote about ABHOW’s response to the recession, the economy has continued to falter. Our residents and employees feel the impact of the downturn. Naturally, all of us are concerned. So I want to share the latest information on how we are doing as a company.
